Estimators work well under pressure and with a team, whether it be other trades or suppliers and contractors. They estimate costs of materials, labour and equipment for projects based on quotes, contract bids and drawings.
Estimators are key to keeping a project on time and on budget, advising on tendering processes and communicating when there are any changes to cost estimates.

What are the training or certification requirements?
Completing a two-year technology diploma in architectural and building engineering or a related discipline is required and often estimators gain experience as a qualified tradesperson first. A degree in either quantity surveying or a related field may be preferred by employers.
