    Bringing drawings to life is what a great cabinet maker excels at. Working with wood, they build and install cabinets, furniture, and fittings. Cabinet makers must be detail-oriented and have a good eye for colour and proportion.

    A key part of a home’s interior design team, cabinet makers should enjoy working with their hands and with a variety of tools. This trade has ample opportunities to work for kitchen installers, specialty furniture businesses, or they can run their own shop.

    What are the training or certification requirements?

    Most cabinet-making jobs require a high school diploma. A four-year apprenticeship program is required before becoming certified, which is not required in BC.
