Hi! I’m a Heavy Equipment Operator
As a heavy equipment operator, I get to drive bulldozers, loaders and graders and help to prepare a property for the building of a new community.
Here are some of the skills you need:
- Interest in operating large machinery
- Problem solving
- Great oral communicator
Equipment operators are in high demand, and qualified trades who like to be in the driver’s seat of a bulldozer, loader or grader can easily find work clearing land, building roads and moving materials needed to build new communities.

What are the training or certification requirements?
Completion of a one- to two-year apprenticeship program or some high school, college or industry courses in heavy equipment operating combined with on-the-job training are required.
