    Architectural technologists combine art and design with technology and construction. They often work in an office setting and help to create blueprints, materials lists and budgets for the construction of a home.

    Using computer software of hand-drawings, they have an eye for aesthetics and an understanding of building codes, by-laws, space requirements, site requirements, and other technical documents.

    What are the training or certification requirements?

    Completion of a two- to three-year college program is usually required. Certification in architectural technology, or in a related field, may be required by employers. To become certified, a period of supervised work experience, usually two years, is required and membership in the provincial regulatory body is mandatory in BC.
